Why I started my Private Practice.
Why I Started My Private Practice Supporting New Moms in Austin
When I became a mother, everything shifted—personally, emotionally, and professionally. Navigating the intense, beautiful, and often overwhelming early months of postpartum opened my eyes to how deeply underserved new moms are when it comes to mental health. My own experience with the highs and lows of early motherhood was a turning point. It inspired me to start a private therapy practice in Austin focused on maternal mental health, postpartum depression and anxiety, and supporting moms through the complex transition into parenthood.
Supporting Maternal Mental Health Shouldn’t Be an Afterthought
Maternal mental health affects everything—your relationships, your sense of identity, even your physical well-being. I wanted to build a practice that centered the unique needs of mothers, particularly in the months and years after giving birth.
For so many women, their experience does not match what they’ve been told. Sometimes that means postpartum depression or anxiety and they end up feeling isolated. They wonder if they’re the only ones struggling. I started my private practice to let them know: you are not alone, there is nothing wrong with you and it is possible to feel better.
I Wanted to Offer Therapy That Fits Moms’ Real Lives
As both a therapist and a mom, I understand how unpredictable and emotional the postpartum period can be. That’s why I’ve built a practice that blends clinical expertise with lived experience—because healing isn’t one-size-fits-all, especially when you’re navigating new motherhood.
I draw from several evidence-based models, including the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), mindfulness practices, acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). These approaches help address the emotional, relational, and practical challenges of postpartum life—while staying attuned to each mom's unique story and nervous system.
Therapy here is flexible—because real life with a baby is anything but rigid. Clients are welcome to bring their baby to sessions, reschedule when needed, and show up exactly as they are. Whether you're navigating sleepless nights, intrusive thoughts, identity shifts, or just need a place to be heard—I offer a space where all of it is welcome.
Why Austin? Because Moms Here Need Space Too
Working as a therapist in Austin, I saw a growing need for accessible, high-quality maternal mental health support. The city is full of vibrant families, but also full of pressures—career, parenting, expectations, and constant comparisons.
My practice is rooted in slowing down and taking notice of what moms feel and need. In providing a safe place where moms can explore the highs of having a family alongside the complicated feelings that come with it. Whether you're new to therapy or returning to it during postpartum, I want you to know that support is available, locally and virtually.
Private Practice Means More Connection, Less Burnout
I created my own practice so I could offer therapy that’s aligned with my values. That means more time with each client, more personalization, and deeper relationships. It also means I get to take care of myself—because when I’m grounded, I can offer the kind of steady presence that clients need.
When I work with new moms, it’s not about checking boxes—it’s about listening deeply, exploring identity, and making space for both grief and joy.
